We all would sure of a memory of someone in the family knitting (Generally the lady of the house) At Nikki Handknits we have employed this art to create a wide range of hand knitted Fashion accessories which include Sweaters, tops, skirts, caps, gloves, socks, bags, shoes, even home and gift items

Nikki Hand Knits was established as an economical development project with it's main objective of providing job opportunity for urban and village women having low income who bound to stay within the boundary of their houses.
90% of the labor employed is women. These garments for them are not a fashion accessory; it is a means of self dependence. South Asia has a record of social discrimination towards women; this industry gives the women a chance to self reliance.
From early days of it's establishment we are using chiefly the natural fibers for making different products.
The raw material used is mainly natural fiber like hemp, aloo ( Himalayan nettle), wool, silk, cotton, etc. In this way we are utilizing the abundantly available raw materials and providing job opportunity for hundreds of villagers to earn something from their own natural surrounding.

Hemp
Hemp or Cannabis sativa belongs to cannabinaceas family grows in the wild but can also be cultivated. Hemp has been used as the premier plant fiber from the early days of human civilization. This fiber has always been valued for its strength and durability.
yan Nettle ( Aloo)
Using this material combined with cotton, wool leather and other materials, new exiting handicraft items like belts, wallets, hats, bags etc can be produced.

Himalayan nettle or Girardinia

Heterophylly belongs to the nettle family and grows above 7000ft. altitude. It is extracted by less privilege people who live in those areas. This fiber which is locally known as aloo and it is as fine as silk when processed.

Cotton, Wool and Silk
These fibers need no description. They have been a part of our attire since ages.

Dyes used.
We use Eco friendly Azo Free dyes and also Natural Dyes as per customer specification
100% naturally extracted vegetable/herbal dyes are extracted from various raw materials like madder, pomegranate, myrobalan, indigo, himalayan rhubarb, cutch, nut galls, kamala, lac, annato, tesu etc. Most of these raw materials are found in the valleys of the Himalayas. These raw materials even have various therapeutic properties
